Identity theft is often regarded as something that belongs in the realm of organized career criminals, but an arrest reported in San Antonio, Texas is a reminder that fraud comes in many forms.

The Dallas-based company processes child support payments for 16 states, and issues debit cards to those that are legally due child support. A Secret Service task force found that the accused assigned cards to friends and relatives, who used more than $150,000 in embezzled funs to make purchases.
Four of the suspects remain at large, while eight have so far been arrested by members of the federal task force. A federal grand jury indicted the suspects for different charges, ranging from fraud to identity theft.
ACS processes more than $8.5 billion a year in child support payments.
