Power was finally restored in New Jersey on Thursday

The remaining 760 homes in New Jersey that have been without power for nearly a week has finally had it restores, according to Public Service Electric & Gas.

New Jersey was especially hard hit with flooding that has occurred all over the east coast and northern Midwest this week.  Public Service, the state’s largest utility has already restored power to 458,000 homes, while Jersey Central Power & Light has restored power for some 186,000 people how were without electricity for most of the week.

While power has been restored, damage control and cleanup efforts are just beginning.  While life is returning to normal for most, many schools and businesses remain closed in the state.

Damage in Bergen County, New Jersey is estimated at $45.5 million alone, with some 5,000 homes reportedly damaged.Nearby Morris County has counted some 1,300 damaged buildings that were flooded due to their proximity from the overflowing Passaic, Ramapo and Pompton rivers.

The region has seen a heavy downpour of rain while it was still dealing with a wetter than normal snowmelt, which prompted New Jersey governor Chris Christie to declare a state of emergency on Sunday.
