Ice Storm Keeps Lights Out in Iowa

According to the Des Moines Register, several communities in Iowa are still without power following a week of ice storms in the Midwest.



Iowa Governor Chet Culver has issued an emergency proclamation for several counties in the state. MidAmerican Energy has reported 11,000 customers still without power in the Sioux City and Des Moines areas, while rural electrical co-ops are reporting outages of its own in Carroll County, and say it could be days before power is restored.



Caroll County’s chairman of the county board of supervisors reports that it appears that the county has been hit by a tornado. If you live in Iowa, please stay tuned to local radio and television for more information.
