While the world’s attention is on rescue efforts underway in Haiti since that nation’s catastrophic earthquake on January 12, the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) reported significant seismic activity this week in Yellowstone National Park.
Two earthquakes were reported on January 18, with four more on January 19 in the famous US National Park, with several smaller aftershocks continuing since in what experts refer to as an “earthquake swarm.” An earthquake swarm is a collection of small earthquakes that happen in the same general area and time.
All earthquakes were reported to be well below the 3.9 magnitude threshold on the Richter scale, that does not present a serious threat to property damage. No injuries or damage has so far been reported.
